Win-Win Case For Infrastructure and Business In Sabah, Malaysia

In June 2025, the ALQ120 stationary asphalt mixing plant independently developed by Macroad was officially put into operation in Sabah, Malaysia. Through the deep collaboration of intelligent equipment and localized services, the project successfully helped customers break through the dual bottlenecks of “difficult material supply for own projects” and “high cost of external sales”, becoming a benchmark case of “precise solution to needs + effective implementation of technology” in China-Malaysia infrastructure cooperation.

The core demands of customers focus on two points:

  • Guarantee the supply of own projects: meet the stable demand for asphalt mixtures for continuous road construction, ensure project progress and quality, and reduce the cost and uncertainty of external procurement;
  • Develop external sales business: sell commercial asphalt mixtures to construction companies and municipal departments within a radius of 50-100 kilometers, and expand revenue sources based on efficient production capacity and flexible services.

  • High quality compliance threshold: Malaysia’s JKR standard and ASTMD specification have strict requirements on mixture gradation, oil-stone ratio, and temperature uniformity. Traditional equipment is difficult to ensure batch stability;
  • High cost control pressure:
    • The equipment itself needs to operate reliably, with low failure rate and reduced maintenance costs,
    • The initial investment of imported equipment is high, and the fuel consumption rate directly affects the profit margin,
  • Trust barriers for imported equipment: Customers are worried that overseas suppliers have slow after-sales response and untimely supply of spare parts, which can easily affect production continuity due to equipment failure.

In response to customer concerns, our sales and technical teams actively communicated, continuously optimized solutions, and ultimately took practical actions to dispel customer doubts.

Quality control: Precision design ensures the quality of the mixture

ALQ120 accurately meets the requirements of the Malaysian JKR standard and ASTMD specification through the innovation of full-process metering and control technology:

  • Dynamic metering system for hot aggregates: equipped with cumulative metering hot aggregate metering hopper, integrated overflow pipe, waste pipe and drop automatic compensation algorithm, combined with overweight alarm and locking function, weighing accuracy reaches ±0.5% (industry average ±1.5%), eliminating grading deviation from the source.
  • First batch error correction technology: AI algorithm is used to analyze the first batch of production data, automatically calibrate subsequent metering parameters, and the qualified rate of the first batch of mixtures is increased from the industry average of 85% to 98%, reducing trial production losses.
  • Secondary asphalt metering technology: Dynamically correct the asphalt dosage based on the actual weighing value of the stone, the oil-stone ratio control accuracy reaches ±0.2% (industry standard ±0.5%), the asphalt loss rate is reduced by 70%, and the cost of each ton of mixture can be saved by RM3.5.
  • IoT remote monitoring system: real-time collection of 30+ data such as gradation and temperature, and linkage with the PLC programmable control system to automatically calibrate parameters to ensure gradation deviation ≤±2% and oil-stone ratio accuracy ≤±0.3%.

Fuel adaptation system and durable design upgrade

  • Multi-fuel adaptation system: Flexible energy adaptation, the asphalt plant is equipped with diesel/coal/electricity multi-fuel compatible system, supports one-click switching of fuel types, accurately responds to fluctuations in the Malaysian energy market, and benefits both cost and environmental protection
  • Precision of the mixing shaft system: The shaft hole is processed by a high-precision boring machine to ensure the concentricity of the mixing shaft, the average annual wear of the bearing is ≤0.01mm, the service life is extended from 5 years to 8 years, the overhaul cycle is extended from 2 years to 4 years, and the cost of a single overhaul is saved by more than $30,000.
  • Direct drive system: Abandoning traditional chain drive, the motor and reducer are directly connected to the shaft, the transmission efficiency is increased to 95%, the risk of chain slippage and tooth skipping is reduced, the maintenance cost is reduced by 25% compared with chain drive equipment, and there is no need to replace the chain regularly.

Localized service system eliminates trust barriers

  • 48-hour rapid response: Macroad has set up a local office in Malaysia, equipped with a local equipment warehouse and engineering team, and promised to arrive at the site within 48 hours to solve customers’ concerns about “slow after-sales service of imported equipment”;
  • Successful case field verification: Faced with customers’ concerns about the performance of the equipment after it was put into production, our sales team contacted old users who had purchased equipment from our company before, and invited customers to visit the equipment supplied by Macroad for the Pan Borneo Expressway project, witnessing the continuous and stable operation of the equipment and the performance of the qualified rate of the mixture reaching 95%.
